How To Style A Mens Flannel /S?Hirt

by Clifford Fowler

The tricky thing about men's fashion is that it's just that: it's tricky. If you are a guy who wants to spruce up your wardrobe, but you don't want to look too trendy or over the top, then you may want to start with some basics like a good pair of jeans, a white t-shirt, and a flannel. The unique thing about flannel shirts is that you can wear them in a few different ways which essentially means that you are getting more than one look with just one shirt.

1. Wear It With a T-Shirt

If you're going out somewhere casually or you just work in more of a casual environment, then wearing a men's double pocket flannel shirt over a t-shirt is the way to go. To really make it look styled, try rolling up the sleeves about a third of the way up the arm so that the folds are just below the elbow. Also, make sure that you iron it even though you are going for a casual look. Looking wrinkled is not something you want to go for.

2. Wear It Buttoned Up

If you work in a more formal work environment, but you're sick and tired of wearing a white button-up every day, then you may be able to pull off a flannel. When you are trying to dress up a flannel keep a few things in mind:

  • Always iron it so that it looks crisp and clean.
  • Button it all the way to the top so that it's more formal.
  • Consider pairing it with a solid, casual tie.
  • Wear a cardigan over the top.
  • Tuck it in.
  • Wear dress pants and nice boots or semi-dress shoes so that it looks formal.
  • Wear with a belt.

3. Tie It Around Your Waist

If it's in the summer and you want to add a little bit of color and texture to your wardrobe then consider wearing jeans, a white t-shirt, and then tying your flannel around your waist. Although you won't be necessarily wearing your flannel as a shirt, it will still make your outfit look a little more curated.

You don't have to go nuts and spend a small fortune on a wardrobe if you're still not sure about fashion. But now that you know a few different things that you can do with a flannel shirt, it's time to go shopping for one!
